“Once upon a time, all food was organic.” This statement is very classic. Some make it a meme or joke but it’s the reality. We are now living in a world that is surrounded with pollutants and chemicals that may cause disease and even cancer.
I’m sure you’ve already heard about “carcinogen”. It is typically the external cause of cancer. Carcinogens enters our body through inhalation or ingestion and absorption through skin. Below are 16 of the most carcinogen culprits that you have probably taken daily that you should avoided by now. These 16 cancer causing foods are scientifically shown to significantly increase the risk of cancers.
1. Microwave Popcorn
Bags of microwave popcorn are lined with chemicals that are linked to causing not only infertility but also liver, testicular, and pancreatic cancers. According to U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the bag itself is lined with chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). The diacetyl chemical used in the popcorn itself is linked to causing both lung damage and cancer.
2. Non-organic Fruits
We already know that conventional or non-organic fruits are bad for us because of their harmful effects to our health and one of it is cancer. One example of dangerous pesticide sprayed to non-organic fruits that are linked to cancer is the Altrazine. It is a weed-killer used at many U.S farms, but banned in Europe for causing severe problems in humans, such as infertility. 3. Canned Tomatoes
Tomatoes itself is healthy and its natural Lycopene lowers cancer risks. Unfortunately, its can lining is the problem and can disrupt hormonal activity in the body. These toxic chemicals has been linked to different cancers, heart disease and reproductive problems. You can still eat tomato or tomato sauce by choosing those inside the glass jar or stew the tomatoes itself.
4. Processed Meat
If you are a carnivore, you probably know the list of all processed meat. Processed meat includes, but is not limited to sausages, hot dogs, bacon, must lunch meat like bologna, salami or pimento loaf. Processed meats are created with excessive salt and chemicals that damage our health. They contain chemical preservatives that make them appear fresh and appealing, but they are well-known carcinogens, including the same things found in cigarette smoke.
5. Farmed Salmon
Farm raised salmon or any kinds of fish that are raised in farms not only lacks Vitamin D but are fed unnatural diets and contaminated with chemicals, antibiotics, pesticides and other known carcinogens found in materials like asbestos. Fresh Salmon is rich in omega 3 so choose fresh rather than farmed salmon to prevent cancer.

Who wouldn’t love eating potato chips especially when going out on a picnic or watching tv or doing any recreational activities? Potato chips has become part of our past time snacks because it’s cheap and great tasting, however, the negative effects they have on your body may not be worth the little bit of pleasure we got from the crispy snack. These tasty foods don’t only cause weight gain because of their high trans-fat content, they also have excessive sodium levels, artificial flavors, preservatives and colors which can cause high blood pressure. Another risk is the presence of acrymalide, a known carcinogen found in cigarettes. You may buy baked potato chips or tortilla chips which are atleast lower in both fat and calories. Or try baked apple chips or banana chips which are dehydrated. Both are crispy and are far healthier than regular potato chips.
7. Hydrogenated Oils
Hydrogenated oils are commonly used to preserve processed foods and keep their shelf life, yet they are also linked to cancer, birth defects, heart disease and many other fatalities. Some manufacturers are phasing out the use of hydrogenated oils and replacing them with palm oil and other safer alternatives, but trans fats are still widely used in processed foods. Remember to check out the label first before buying your cooking oil and look for healthy oils like olive, soy, and canola.
8. Salted, Pickled or Smoked Foods
These foods are cured by use of nitrates or nitrates that act as preservatives as well as adding color to the meat. although nitrates do not cause cancer in, under certain conditions these chemicals change once they are inside the body into N-nitroso composites. It’s the N-nitroso that increases the risks of developing cancers. Smoked foods like meat or nuts absorb the smoke, which contains the same tar found in cigarettes. Salty, pickled, and smoked foods are also colorectal and high risk in stomach cancer.
9. Highly Processed White Flour
White flour contains a high glycemic rate, which raises blood sugar and insulin levels and can directly cause diabetes. It is nutritionally deadly and may slowly kill you. If you tried to live on white bread alone for 60 days, you would die of malnutrition. Cancerous tumors feed on sugar in the bloodstream, so by avoiding refined grains like processed white flour, you can avoid or starve deadly tumors.

Using Artificial Sweeteners while losing weight is a very wrong decision. It will not help you lose weight but it could gain you more and also, it does nothing to help those with diabetes. Aspartame found in artificial sweeteners has been known to cause convulsions, cataracts and gastro paresis. Deadly toxin called DKP forms in the body from these fake sweeteners that produces cancer-causing chemicals, especially brain tumors.

These are foods with “diet” or “low-fat” labels. These foods are not healthy as it consists chemical artificial sweetener aspartame, that can cause cancer, birth defects and heart problems. Anything “Diet” are chemically processed and not REAL food. These foods are also addicting because it contains cocaine. Be smart and only choose organic foods!
Alcohol use is the second leading cause of cancer, right behind tobacco use. Moderate drinking or low consumption of alcohol can be healthy and lead to reduce risk of heart disease but excessive drinking is a different story. It can cause heart failure, stroke and sudden death. It is the biggest cause of mouth, esophagus, liver, colon, rectum and breast cancers.

There are studies that shows that red meat is actually good in your diet, in small amounts. Grass fed beef contains conjugated linoleic acid that actually fights against certain cancers. However, eating red meat every day, even a small amount such as hamburger, can increase a man’s risk of dying from cancer by 22 percent and a woman’s chance by 20 percent. Eating a lot of red meat increased the risk of breast, prostate, and colon cancer. You can still eat red meat if you want. But be sure to buy organic meat for your best health.

Studies found that people who consumed more than one soda per day had a higher risk of stroke than people who did not drink sodas. Soda is packed full of calories, sugar and artificial ingredients, and has ZERO nutritional benefit. One can of soda contains about ten packets of sugar and most popular diet and sugared sodas are nearly as corrosive to dental enamel as battery acid. Also, studies have shown that only drinking two sodas per week nearly doubles the risk of pancreatic cancer. Although sodas are not direct cause of ulcers, they are known to irritate and make those with ulcers have more pain. It also contain artificial colorings and food chemicals like derivative 4-methylimidazole (4-MI); so no wonder why soda pop has been shown to cause cancer
In this new approach to food, the best we can do for ourselves is to eat clean and choose organic. Be wise and think that your health is an investment so its better to start soon to indulge to healthy foods.
